DEFI is a French NGO for development, sponsored in France by personalities of the scientific world - The Nobel Prize Georges Charpak, members of the Academy of Sciences-, the educational field, the political arena and companies… DEFI fights misery, ignorance, incivility.
DEFI promotes two programs:
The ISTEP Program "Introduction of Science and Technology in Primary Education in Developing Countries"
DEFI needs sponsors. For each country, this program represents 600 000 Euros over a six-year period. We need help!
An innovative action: teaching science and technology in primary schools
In developing countries, science and technology are poorly taught. Young people are deprived to understand modern ways of thinking. The teaching of science and technology in primary schools facilitates integration into the modern world, the acquisition of productive occupational skills, and the improvement of living conditions. School ensures, with the DEFI Program, the promotion of women in underdeveloped countries: it places them at the heart of the modern world. The educational “hands-on” method derived from “La main à la pâte” is based on the discovery of basic scientific concepts through experimentation and manual activity. A fundamental action: developing civic, democratic and moral values
We reinforce the behavior of responsible citizens, and we focus on the principles of collective actions: learning how to work in teams, listening to other people, seeking the common good…
Achievements: projects in Haiti, Madagascar, Benin, Togo and Rwanda

DEFI works with reliable local partners. The objective is to create a pool of local trainers able to transmit this teaching, to ensure its continuation. |
